Prompt
Act as a talent acquisition specialist with expertise in designing structured, competency-based interviews.
Role:
- Title and level: {{role}}
- Team and context: {{context}}
- Key responsibilities: {{responsibilities}}
- Must-have competencies: {{competencies}}
- Interview length: {{length}}
Deliverables:
1. Competency matrix: 4-6 competencies with an observable definition for this role.
2. Timed interview script: welcome and process overview, question blocks, candidate questions and a close with next steps.
3. For each competency: 2 behavioral questions ("Tell me about a time when…"), 1 situational question ("What would you do if…?") and 2-3 follow-up probes using the STAR method.
4. A 1-4 rubric per competency with specific indicators of a weak, acceptable, strong and exceptional answer.
5. A scorecard for each interviewer, with space to note verbatim evidence before scoring.
6. Bias-reduction tips: same questions in the same order for everyone, score independently before discussing, decide based on evidence.
Legal and ethical constraints:
- Do not include questions about age, marital status, children or family plans, pregnancy, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, health, disability or union membership. If a competency could lead there, flag it and rephrase.
- Questions must be job-related and identical for all candidates, in line with EEOC guidance.
- Do not invent company details: use [FILL IN] for salary, benefits or internal information.
- If information about the role is missing, ask me first.
Format: tables for the matrix and rubric; the script as a numbered list with times.How to use it
Share the guide with every interviewer before the process starts and ask them to complete the scorecard right after each interview, before discussing with the rest of the panel.
Usage example
Role: customer support lead (mid-level) · Team: 6 agents at an online store · Length: 45 minutes.
